We hope the new year is off to a great start for all of you. Here’s what we have to share with you in our first issue of 2020 – and we hope you enjoy reading this issue of WRE as much as we’ve enjoyed putting it together. At the two most recent AWRF Product Information
Exhibitions (or PIE’s), which were held in Minneapolis for Fall 2017 and Cleveland for Spring 2019, Te Caldwell Group demonstrated evolutions of an online product configuration tool now officially dubbed SmartSpec. It’s a fascinating concept,
and we wanted to learn more about. In our Cover Feature, we learn much more about the product from Darrin Noe, Caldwell’s director of sales. In our Second Feature, we travel to Plymouth, Massachusetts where we follow the
progress a big expansion at Suncor Stainless. Dave Morgan, VP of sales and marketing for the company, walks us through how the space will be used, and puts this project into context of the company’s history and how it has grown over time by carefully following its customers. In the WRE Advisor, Te Association of Equipment Manufacturers weighs in to review
five manufacturing trends to watch for 2020. While we know that most of you aren’t necessarily manufacturers, we believe the technologies behind these trends are critically important for everyone in our industry to be aware of and alert to. You may well have experience with some of them already. In material handling applications, overhead crane installations often entail major challenges – balancing confined spaces, existing equipment, load requirements and operator safety, just to name a few. We take an inside look at this world in our Update as we follow Bohl Crane and R&M Materials Handling on their third major installation at injection molding company TH Plastics. Inside the back cover, be sure to check out Rigger’s Corner.
