With SmartSpec, a detailed approval drawing along with a proposal is created within minutes of submitting the request.” Noe explains that the real-time saving is twofold in that the approval drawing is already prepared, and there is no final design work required so the order goes to the shop floor for fabrication without having to pass through other processes; SmartSpec does that work by itself. In other words, once a purchase order is raised the information goes to a scheduler within the company who slates it for completion like any other order. Noe says, “If the dealer has questions during any stage of the process, they can contact anyone in the customer service department and / or their local


territory representative. Now that the system is live, I also continue to work closely with Nate Jacobs [marketing and business development coordinator at Caldwell] and we can support with technical or other issues that arise. Te development process has been gradual and thorough over two-and-a-half years and has resulted in a system that is performing in line with our high expectations during that time.” Training on the platform remains available to new and existing users. Tis can be conducted in person at customers’ sites, where Caldwell representatives have delivered content to a classroom of people, or via online conference where participants from multiple branches are able to sit in. “Both work very well,” Noe enthuses.
