Warminster Art Society W

arminster Art Society was started in 1987 by two friends, Ken Woodcock

and Stan Gunby. The men contacted fellow local artists and painting groups with their idea, organising the artists with greater experience to give instruction to others at Dewey House, then St John’s Church Hall. They toured the Wiltshire countryside finding appropriate places for outdoor painting,

producing a well thought out programme for the Society.

Although both Stan and Ken sadly passed away in 2015, the programme is still used by the Society, and aside from the increased number of members, it remains largely unchanged. At present there are 64 members with an age range from late 20s to 90. There are currently two honorary members who were

supportive of the Society at its inception and three life members who have been with the club since it first began. Meetings now take place weekly at the Warminster Park Community Centre.

The Society welcomes artists of all abilities and skill levels from complete novice to semi- professional. For beginners this provides plenty of opportunities
