he 22 year old, Georgina Beeson from Kingstone, Uttoxeter has just become National Amateur Champion at 85cm showjumping riding her 13 year old Irish mare "Jazzy Footwork", owned by Barbara Beeson.

Georgina has been competing nationally from the age of 11, having begun to ride as a four year old. This was her fourth visit to Aintree for the National Amateur Championships where she and Jazz not only dominated the second round qualifiers but also the final itself, fighting off stiff challenges to claim the Championship title.


63 competitors qualified for the final with over half of those making it through to the jump off and 15 of them gaining a double clear round. Georgina and Jazzy Footwork took the lead in a time of 31.39 seconds and held on to win just ahead of Sophie Corney and Ocean Breeze who achieved a time of 31.73 seconds.


Despite holding down a full time job and helping out on the family farm, Georgina enjoys competing at several shows each month with her team of three horses. She is quick to acknowledge the help and support of her family and other half without whom she would not be able to attend the many show fixtures each year.
