More investment at Porto Montenegro

According to Danilo Kalezic, Senior PR & Marketing Manager of Porto Montenegro, the future of the Tivat-based superyacht marina and residential village will be defined by a new decade of investment totalling over 500 million Euros. At present, only 30% of a total area of 24 hectares, which formerly belonged to Tivat’s military Arsenal shipyard, has been built up. He believes the next ten years of investment are likely to mirror the past decade in terms of value as new state-of-the-art facilities, mixed-use complexes and residential neighbourhoods are implemented at the facility.

Eco project at Cesme Marina

The team at Cesme Marina, which is located just outside Izmir in Turkey, has announced a ‘Coral Planting Project’ to help promote the marina’s eco-credentials even further. Employees prepared three coral nests from some spare materials that were left around the marina in which the corals and sponges can protected whilst they grow in a controlled environment.

On reaching a certain size, they will be removed from the nests and transferred to the main diving centres in Cesme with the co-operation of the Derin Doğa Diving Centre.

Floating bridge for Rimini

An installation has been completed by Walcon Marine in the heart of the historic Italian city of Rimini. The project involved the design and construction of a floating bridge linking the two banks of the ancient Canal de Ponente. From it, residents and tourists have unparalleled views of the neighbouring 2,000-year old Ponte di Tiberio (Tiberius Bridge), one of the city’s top tourist attractions. The Walcon bridge, which is 36 metres in length, was fabricated using three heavy duty System 21 pontoons. Each is 12 metres in length and three metres wide, and is supported by five large floats, giving a live load of at least 300 kilos per square metre. The decking is made from Siberian larch.
