Young Ambassadors’ Conference Join the Swindon Sports Forum

Are you a club or physical activity group in Swindon that would like some additional support?

Swindon Sports Forum aims to help sport clubs and physical activity providers so more people in Swindon can be more active. We can do this by:

 Offering small grants up to £1000 for small projects, equipment and other club development needs.

 Help with bid writing for big applications to funders such as Sport England.

 Training and Workshops helping to improve your knowledge and help your club/group grow.

We currently have over 60 clubs/ groups as members of the Sport Forum and we hold regular meetings where you can have your say as to how sport and physical activity should be run in Swindon. We work with our partners to help make a real difference to sport clubs and groups in Swindon with the ultimate aim of getting more people active in the community. Visit our website for more information and how you can be a part of the Forum at www.swindonsportsforum.co.uk

Talented Athletes’ Academy

Swindon Sports Forum is committed to supporting Swindon’s stars of the future by offering a Talented Athletes’ Academy during the school holidays. The Talented Athletes’ Academy is run by high performance coach James Marshall and the 5 sessions are focused on personal organisation, nutrition, healthy eating and sport/life balance.

Athletes learn how to approach their sports development in a measured way to help prevent ‘burn out’ before they achieve their full potential. Athletes can come from any sporting background and the sessions are adapted to meet the needs of each athlete and their sport.

More information on how to join our Talented Athletes’ Academy can be found on our website.

The annual Young Ambassadors’ Conference took place at the Trowbridge Civic Centre on Tuesday 24th September.

120 pupils from West Wilts Primary Schools attended this event.

They received training covering a number of topics including how to be a role model, setting up a sports council, SEND events and were set an extensive task list.

The next session takes place on Tuesday 21st January 2020.

Progress will be checked along with learning some new practical leadership skills.

A big thank you to the Young Ambassadors from Kingdown who ran the session.

Particularly three Y11’s Ella, Megan and Mia who planned and ran the event.
