he Flagship of IGY’s worldwide network of high quality marinas, Yacht Haven Grande is located


by the scenic harbour of Charlotte Amalie in St Thomas, one of the US Virgin Islands. It was voted Superyacht Marina of the Year 2019. The town was founded in 1681 by Danish settlers and still has some signs of the bustling colonial life that once existed there. The Caribbean weather makes the area ideal for a wide range of water- based activities such as snorkeling, diving, fishing and kayaking in the


clear, blue waters of the Virgin Islands, and Phil Blake, Marina General Manager, CMM, encourages visitors to explore the island’s many natural habitats during the day or night. Two attractions at opposite ends of the cultural scale are Blackbeard’s Castle and the St Thomas Synagogue. The former was once a Danish military tower. As you tour the grounds you can take a swim in one of the three swimming pools or enjoy the world’s largest collection of life- sized pirate sculptures. The latter

was built in 1833 and is the oldest synagogue in continuous use under the American Flag and the second oldest synagogue in the Western Hemisphere. Although restored in 2000, there are still many elements from the original structure. A full service marina, Yacht


Haven Grande provides 46 berths for megayachts of up to 200 metres with a maximum draft of 7.6 metres, as well as sailing, sport fishing and other leisure craft. Customs and Immigration clearance can be dealt with on-site and there is a crew lounge for


relaxation once formalities have been concluded. There is also a Customs & Border patrol kiosk dedicated to the new ROAM app for all American crew and guests. This now allows vessels to report their arrivals and clear Customs from the vessels utilising a smart device. In most cases, an in- person visit is not necessary as the Customs & Border Patrol officer can use the camera on the smart device to see what is needed. Facilities include service pedestals
