Investment at Larnaca
The AMPA & Israeli Shipyards consortium has submitted a 1.2 billion Euros bid for the redevelopment of the port and marina in Larnaca, Cyprus, including a commercial and residential development on 220,000 sq m of adjacent land. A new company, Kition Ocean Holdings – made up of Israeli and Cypriot companies – will handle negotiations with the Government of Cyprus.
The consortium is proposing to provide berthing for 650 vessels from 5-150 metres, which will be complemented by traditional dining venues, recreational and green areas, playgrounds, hotels, commercial spaces and luxury villas.
There are also plans to build a unique educational and medical centre where students will be able to study and practice hotel management and medicine, and take courses related to the marine economy.
Berthon buys VersaDock
Modular pontoon company VersaDock has been bought by the Hampshire- based Berthon Group, a British boatyard that has been owned by the May family for over 100 years. VersaDock will operate from the Group’s Lymington Marina at new offices in M Shed and a new custom build and fulfilment centre will allow for increased stock holding, as well as pre-building docks to reduce installation time on site.
New tenants for Porto Montenegro
Several new high-profile tenants have opened their offices in Porto Montenegro this Summer. Among those now established at the Mediterranean marina are Acquera Yachting, Beneteau, Cubico, East Med Yachting, Monte Carlo Yachts and Sunreef Yachts. They join a number of other
respected brands such as BMW, Bang & Olufsen, Max Mara, Rolex, etc, that are already represented in Porto Montenegro.
Princess lands at Saxon Wharf
Richard Broadribb, MDL’s Property Director, has announced that Princess Motor Yacht Sales has signed a ten-year lease at Saxon Wharf on the River Itchen, Southampton, and is set to create a maintenance and retrofit centre for its customers. Saxon Wharf boasts a 200 ton boat hoist, as well as fully-serviced pontoons able to accommodate boats of up to 80 metres. Saxon Wharf already offers outstanding facilities for motor yachts and other large craft. Its position near to Southampton Water makes it the ideal location for large boats in need of secure, quick turnaround lift-outs, repair work or full-scale refits.
