I want you to meet someone. This is Sumeiya. She is a Kenyan girl who lives with her family near Manyatta.
Manyatta is an area on the west side of Kenya and north of the port city of Kisumu. About 95% of the population here lives in abject poverty and struggles with hunger on a daily basis. Previously, the only educational option for the children of Manyatta was a single Muslim school, which indoctrinated the children in Islamic culture and the Quran.
By God’s amazing grace, Triumphant Grace Academy (TGA) opened its doors in January 2015. TGA’s goal was to nurture young children in mind, body and spirit with the love of Jesus and to break the vicious cycle of poverty by providing education. The school and its dedicated staff have won favor with the surrounding communities. In fact, some Muslim children attend TGA because of the quality education and love shown by the staff.
Sumeiya is only nine, but she has already grown tall. She is a very kind girl and a joy to teach. Sumeiya is somewhat slow in her ability to learn, but she has a tremendous desire to
