Overall, the national economy is good for the upper few, but not so good for the average wage- earner. The problem with “trickle-down economics” is that it doesn’t trickle down.


THE CRY…


All around the world, people are gravitating to big cities for work. The results are huge slums and increasing street populations. Rather than moving to the


suburbs or away from the city centers, the church needs to grapple with this growing problem by meeting it head-on.


Instead, much of today’s modern charismatic and evangelical ministry is focused on looking-better, feeling-better and living-better. It is aimed at loving a Jesus made after our image and ignoring what the real Jesus told us to do.


Have you ever heard the cry of the homeless, the battered, the abused, the mentally ill, the lost and the heartsick? I heard the Director for a big Dallas homeless service tell people to prepare themselves for 30 minutes of tears and pain when talking with a homeless person. They are not on the streets by choice. And it does not really matter how they got there; it matters that they are there and need help.


It matters what we as the disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ will do about it…other than pass on the other side of the road like the Pharisee in the Parable of the Good Samaritan.
