12/ SEPTEMBER 2019 THE RIDER Rusty Gaits Saddle Club Raises Funds for Childcan Every year Rusty Gaits
hosts a charity event for causes that touch the members of the club. In the past we have col- lected canned goods for the food bank, donated to the local animal shelter, raised funds for Lupus, and this year, Rusty Gaits chose to raise funds for Childcan. “Since 1974, Childcan has
provided responsive and compas- sionate support services for fam- ilies living in Southwestern
Ontario and facing the challeng- ing journey through childhood cancer - from diagnosis, through treatment, to recovery or bereave- ment. One of Childcan’s goals is to relieve families of everyday fi- nancial burdens to allow them to focus on their child’s care and treatment.” Event co-ordinator Deb
Cassidy organized an incredible penny auction with extremely generous donations from our
aged participants to wear gold in support of childhood cancer. There was also an entertaining rescue race. In the end, Rusty Gaits Saddle Club donated $1250 to Childcan! An honourable mention
