2 September 2019 Halesworth & Southwold Community News
THE Crown, Framlingham, Ufford Park Hotel, the Marlborough at Dedham, a local farm and Halesworth coffee shops have all been places of meaningful conversations during this last month in which the real issues of life have been shared. Tears have been shed, hearts unburdened, and hope given as numerous issues have been talked through.
News from Halesworth Community Church our

our
Hope – that vital ingredient. Not false, unreal optimism but a genuine hope that is born of a conviction that God loves us and has a purpose for our lives. The opposite is despair – that horrible feeling that there is no point, that life isn’t going anywhere except to a literal dead end, and that we really are on our own. If you looked in on us as a church, you would find a group of people who have found that hope – and who celebrate it together. We are gearing up for
second ‘How
to Help’ in January of next year, and this is designed for those who have been through the ‘Understanding Yourself’ series and now want to use what they have learnt to benefit others. After all, if hope is so important, it is worth passing on.

THE Town Council will be holding a public forum event on Thursday 12th September at 7pm at the Edgar Sewter School. This is an opportunity for the Council to consult with residents on their priorities for Halesworth and to
share its
proposal for a four-year plan. As a reminder of what
the Town Council can do, it has a major role in acting as a ‘watch-dog’ for the town and in reporting matters the

JANET John, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice North East Suffolk, pictured here with the Rotary Club’s outgoing President, Paul Randle, has accepted the award of Beccles Rotary’s President’s Cup, at the
club’s recent Handover.
This award, is a recognition of the charity’s contribution to the people of Beccles.
Many people are not aware that
Citizens Advice is a charity and most of their highly skilled and trained advisors are volunteers.
‘We are thrilled that the work of our local Citizens Advice has been recognised and valued by the Rotary Club of Beccles’, said Janet John, “What we do covers a wide range of services from helping with housing problems, debt and other money problems to advising on legal issues such as employment rights. We could not do this without our hard- working volunteers or without donations from the public. This is especially crucial as we face increasing threats to our funding at a time when demands on our services are also rising.” Citizens Advice North East offers
Suffolk advice at its
offices in Lowestoft, Beccles and Bungay - more information on its services, and how to offer support, can be found on its website
