3K Walk Cancer Away in Bayonne T


he 12th annual Walk Cancer Away event will be held September 22 at Stephen R.


Gregg County Park to commemorate those remembered and to celebrate those still fight- ing. Check-in and shirt pick-up will be at 8 a.m.; the walk begins at 9:30 a.m.


Aſter the walk, participants may enjoy the Matt Coffy Band & Te Nerds; food


trucks, cornhole tournaments, family activities and special performances by the Bayonne High school band, cheerleading team and color guard. With each step taken, with each story shared and with each donation made, they are


one step closer to finding a cure. To date, they have raised more than $700,000 for Dr. Nancy Kemeny’s Colorectal Research Fund at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

that raises barbed questions about class, race, parental duty and the state of American education.”

Newport Liberty Half Marathon

City is now a NYCRUNS race. Race- day packet pickup will be available in the festival area at Newport Green Park from 6:30 to 8:15 a.m. Te race begins at 8:30 a.m. Known among running enthusi-


asts as a preparation and training run for the New York City Marathon held each November, the Newport-Liberty Waterfront Run starts and finishes in downtown Newport, and offers a mostly flat and fast race through the streets of Jersey City with plenti- ful views of the Statue of Liberty, the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, lower Manhattan and Ellis Island. Te race includes exceptional


amenities, increased course support and four split points. Bag check and toilets will be provided. Water and Ga- torade will be available on the course, and bagels, spreads, fresh fruit and more will make up the great post-race spread at the finish line.
