The SCR Chambers: Sheffield Customs service gets delivery agent

Following significant investment in training and resource, Sheffield Chamber of Commerce has been appointed an official delivery agent for ChamberCustoms, a new customs declarations service launched by the British Chambers of Commerce. Sheffield Chamber was delighted to

welcome Liam Smyth, Director of Trade Facilitation for the British Chamber of Commerce, to Sheffield to officially launch the service in July 2019. Delivered locally, this new service will offer

traders a high level of compliance with HMRC procedures with direct links to all sea, air and road ports and terminals in the UK. Nick Patrick, Head of International Trade at Sheffield Chamber, said: “It is fantastic to officially launch this new service in partnership with the BCC. We have built our new system to meet the requirements of the Union Customs Code (UCC), support the anticipated future import and export growth of the UK, and provide businesses with access to more of their customs information in one place.”

President’s Annual Dinner a chance to celebrate youth entrepreneurship

Steve Manley (pictured), Sheffield Chamber of Commerce President, cordially invites businesses across the region to join him at one of the Chamber’s flagship events, the President’s Annual Dinner. The event aims to celebrate, recognise and encourage youth enterprise and entrepreneurship, which Steve outlined as a significant focus in November last year when he accepted the chains of office. Steve Manley said: “Over the years I’ve met a

lot of young people from across the region with some great ideas and vision, so it was a natural fit to choose youth enterprise as a theme for my Presidency – especially as a former teenage entrepreneur myself. “I’m looking forward to my President’s Dinner

event where I can further showcase and celebrate the burning spirit of enterprise amongst the next generation of entrepreneurs with the wider business community.” Sam Christmas, Commercial Partnership

Manager at Sheffield Chamber, added: “The President’s Annual Dinner would not happen if it was not for the generosity of our sponsors. On behalf of the Chamber team, and all those involved, I would like to thank CT, Keebles, Fellowes, Universal, Vow, Taylor&Emmet Solicitors and Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association.” Held on 3 October at the Cutlers Hall in Sheffield, the black-tie dinner will welcome over 300 guests including the A-list of the region’s business community, Chamber board members and dignitaries. BBC Look North's Clare Frisby is set to host the event which once again doubles

as a fund-raising opportunity for the new Chamber Charity of the Year, which will be announced during the evening. A drinks reception is followed by a three-

course meal with table wine and entertainment by famous Rotherham busker, Alfie Sheard.
