MAKING YOUR OUTDOORS GREAT FOR SUMMER
BRING THE SUNSHINE
The warmer weather is on its way, and with it comes great opportunities to increase revenue. For most, these should be the best months of the year from a profit point of view. Bank holidays and the often short, always unpredictable, great British summer means people want to get out into the sunshine and socialise. This means venues have to get their outside areas as enticing as possible to entice this lucrative crowd in. On the flip side, failure to take advantage of Mother Nature’s generosity can be disastrous, and lead to an anxious wait for the renewed uplift of Christmas.
Making the most of the external space you have means getting lots of decisions
right. Patio, decking or lawn? Planted areas for the look, or clear ground to maximise capacity? All things to consider, but all things that may potentially be out of your control without substantial investment. One thing a Venue Manager can have control over, however, is the furniture they use to make a space more colourful, usable and comfortable. And there are lots of options here too!
Here are a few ideas on how tables and seating can be used to attract guests and keep them coming back, as well as making owners and staff happy.
WONDERFUL WOOD
There’s no doubting the aesthetic value wood can bring to an outside area. As well as natural beauty in a huge range of finishes, timber lends itself very well to communal seating arrangements. Small and large tables with structurally attached pads or benches are perfect for the larger groups that come out in the sunshine; and you can be sure your customers (or most levels of windy conditions) won’t totally rearrange your décor due to the added weight – or even the ability to tether this type of furniture down.
In terms of keeping costs down, wood can be the best option in both the short- and long-term. Initial purchase price for comparable products (in terms of how many people alternatives will seat)

is relatively lower for wood over plastic, metal or hybrid options. There is also much more flexibility to rejuvenate and repair wood furniture over time. Whereas replacement can be the only option for other materials, sanding and refinishing, painting, and even fixing faults is not only possible, but much easier with wood.
Finally, when considering unusual spaces, or distinctive décor themes, it is quite simple to get highly customised furniture made from wood. Shape and size, within reason, are no barrier to creating the perfect blend of form and function. That’s why Contract Furniture Group employs skilled carpenters to make made-to-measure benches, tables, bars and just about anything else for our customers with exacting requirements.
