South Texas Cham- pionship, held March 22-24 in Gonzales, paid out $200,645!
South Texas
Horse Show Series hosted a March 23 event in Sinton. HPs were Chloe Ramon (WT-10&u), Maria Gonzalez (WT-18&u), Julie Harwell (WT- 19&o), Emma Camp- bell (18&u), Madison Troxlar (Adult-19-39), and Linda Ford (Adult-40&o).
The Lazy J Arena Derby & Cutting Saddle Series
hosted a show March 23 and 24, in Stillwater, OK. Circuit champions included Mitch Burns (NP-Derby) and Mike Childers ($750-Novice).
Western OK Ranch Horse Association’s March 23-24
show, held as always at Chickasha’s Grady Co Fairgrounds, drew many new exhibitors and offered loads of fun and prizes! Weekend HPs were Christa Stone (All-Ages/Hollywood Hot Sauce), Ashley Munsell (Am/Spooks Quick Draw), Landon Bidleman (Y/Kings Oh Cay Lena), Jessica Klassen (Nov- Am/Southbound 35), Emily Shoumaker (Nov-Y/Bamacat ARC), Keily Larson (Nov-Horse/Jim Bales), Deborah Payne (Rookie-Rider/G Maximus Smoke), and Bob Payne (Super Se- lect/Reyz The Bet).
The Aggie Super Circuit, held March 28-31 at Brazos
Expo in Bryan, offered 5 judges and 5 complete shows. HPs were Trinity Bell (Small-Fry & L1-Youth-WJ/A Certain Faith), Della Bachtell (L1-Am-WJ/Just Chippin), Jennifer Murray (L1- Am/One Lazy Amiga), Shellie Dalluge (Am/He Got It All), Anne Wilson (Select-Am/Give Me The Goods), Ashlee Acker (L1-Youth/RR Huntin For More), Jessica McAllister (Youth/Midknight Invitation), and Always Decked Out (Open/Kaitlyn Smith/Shannon Gillespie). AR Ranch and Stock Horse Association hosted its first
2019 show March 30-31 in Searcy. HPs were Andrea Rego (Open/BC Pennys From Tari), (tie-Y/DC Quejana Pep), Hunter Huddleston (tie-Y/My Favorite), Karstyn Clausen (tie-Nov- Y/Noel), and Taylor Meek (Nov-Y/Dunnits Smoke). AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse winners were Jeremy Cox (Open/Nic It In The Smarts), Samantha Beck (Am/Poco Muchacho Doc), S. Lynn Walker (Am-Ltd/Gunner Got Out), and Taylor Mar- shall (Youth-Ltd/WR Paddy Cat). The next show is June 1-2.

The Equine Disease Communication Center (EDCC)
reported on April 8 that the Texas Animal Health Commis- sion (TAHC) had confirmed cases of equine infections ane- mia (EIA) in Smith and Van Zandt counties. In each county, a Quarter Horse tested positive for EIA in March, and both affected horses were euthanized. Per the EDCC, each ani- mal’s home premises “will remain under quarantine until re- quirement for release have been met. TAHC staff is working closely with owners and veterinarians to monitor potentially exposed horses and implement biosecurity measures.”
