THE RAF Harrowbeer 1940s Weekend is all set to wow the crowds again, with two days of events on the former WWII airfield at Yelverton, on August 17 and 18, from 10am to 5pm daily. Organised by the RAF Harrowbeer Interest Group, (HIG) the event will be centred around the Dispersal Bay at Axtown, Yelver-

Attractions for 2019 include the full-size replica Spitfire MkIX, with working Rolls Royce Merlin engine, WWII re-enactors, mil- itary and vintage vehicles, Robey Trust steam engines, plus stalls selling vintage items and memorabilia. On Sunday afternoon there will be a family dog show.


The HIG will have their airfield photo- graphs on display and the Air-Raid Shelter Museum open. Visitors can also read the operational record books of the airfield at the Harrowbeer Archives Museum.
