There are vast options to choose from for flooring,it depends on how hardy a material you need and personal
taste.However, there are still types that are more suited for certain spaces over others. For instance, carpets and bathrooms do not mix. “Probably the biggest thing is the advent of
vinyl plank product, that comes as either glue-down or a click product, has really taken a big chunk of the market share just in the past few years,”said Brian Winters,owner of Herman's Carpets in Coaldale.“It's sold more than sheet vinyl and taken the place of some of the carpet that's out there. I think it's very similar to a laminate product; it gives you the look of wood, but it's 100 per cent impervi- ous, so moisture won't affect it, and the bene- fit of that is if you damage a piece, you can just replace that individual piece, and put it back

1967.Winters has been in the flooring business since he was in high school,and he has seen his fair bit of fads coming and going.
While something may look cool now, chances are if you are not going to like it in a few years, it won't stand the test of time. “If you see it and think it's something that looks kind of cool, but you're not sure if you would get tired of it, versus using a ceramic tile for instance. If it was a true printed tile that was very ornate, that may not stand the test of time versus a three-by-six subway tile that has been around for years, but will still look good in 10 years. If you look at the print- ed tile,in 10 years am I going to love it as much as I do today? Sometimes that will define if it's more fad prone.” Of course, there will be styles that come and go. “Forty years ago, there was a printed linoleum that has kind of a, I don't know if you would call it an old-fashion type print, or a parquet flooring type look,and now that's slowing coming back around again,” said Winters, adding that colours that had previ- ously fallen out of favour, such as green and coral pink, are coming back again. Sheet vinyl flooring and carpet tend to be
harder to install, but with a bit of direction, most people can install their own flooring.
