Policewarning to illegal bikers

MOTORISTS and bikers who break the law and continually cause a nuisance face having their vehicles seized following a clampdown in Larkfield. Kent Police have been contacted

by residents regarding the anti-so- cial use of cars and motorbikes in theNewHythe Lane area. Since January 21 this year, offi-

cers have formally warned two drivers that their vehicles will be seizedif their behaviourpersists.A further seven have been issued withwarnings. PC Becky Ballard said: “We are

aware of reports of antisocial be- haviour in the village, including motorists causing a nuisance dur- ing the evenings. “Having offered advice about

their conduct, we are now using enforcement against those who persist in breaking the law or act- ing in an antisocial manner with their vehicles.Wewill also instigate

dispersal orders in the area where problems continue and further is- sues are raised by residents.” Police have been working with

partner agencies and landowners to detect and deter those who are breaking the law. PC Ballard added: “As well as

enforcing the law,we haveworked with businesses who have issued eightwarnings concerning trespass on their landwith a vehicle.” Drivers and riders are reminded

that officers from the Tonbridge and Malling Community Safety Unit have powers, under the Road Traffic Act, to prosecute and seize any vehicles being used illegally. One resident told Downs Mail:

“It’s time the authorities took tough action against people who will neverdo the right thingunless there are severe consequences.” To report antisocial behaviour
