East Malling Healthy Walks. Every Friday, departing 11am from East Malling Community Centre, Chapman Way, each lasting between 45 mins and an hour. Return to EMC for a cuppa.
East Malling and Larkfield Annual Parish Walk. Led by David Thornewell, parish council chairman. Meet at 2.30pm, April 7, at St James Church, East Malling. Return by 5pm. All welcome.
Macey’s Meadow. Norman Road, is one of 15 Kent Community Orchards. It is owned by West Malling Parish Council. The 20-acre site is being managed by a group
of volunteers who do all the work necessary to keep the traditional apple, cherry and cobnut trees healthy. The site is managed for diversity, including an insect hotel, bird boxes and bee hives, and hay meadows are being managed to encourage wildflowers. Regular working parties are organised. The Blossom Picnic. Will be held in Macey`s Meadow on Sunday, May 12, from 1pm to 4pm. There will be live music, potential talks on bee-keeping and reptiles, and a project to encourage little owls to nest in the meadow. West Malling Litter Pick. Will take place on Saturday, March 30 between 10am and noon. Meet at West Malling Village Hall car park at 10am, all equipment will be provided. For more details, contact the clerk 01732 870872
East Malling Clare Lake Volunteers. Meet on the first Saturday on each month at 10.30am to clear undergrowth and litter from the site. Protective gear is provided, but please bring small hand tools, like shears, secateurs, loppers and barrows (no power tools, please). In March, the 15 strong group also planted primroses and forget-me-nots. Next session is April 6, 10.30am. Ring Michelle Tatton 01732 521889 to reserve equipment. Larkfield Litter Pickers. Group meets March 30, 10.30am, at Church Farm, New Hythe Lane. Sticks, sacks, gloves and tabards provided. Return at noon for soup, roll, chat and cake.
