Vanessa Curry of Fine Art Source, specialist art advisor, will take us on a 50-minute tour of BADA Fair 2019. You will learn about the new aesthetic born in the 1840s as a reaction to the industrial revolution and about the evolution of Modernism as well as the influence of the Machine Age on furniture and visual art and the evolution of Art Deco/Bauhaus sleek. Vanessa was awarded Outstanding in Field by SPEARS 500 and recently appointed as an Arts Advisor to the Denise Coates Foundation working on arts philanthropy. This is a great event for art lovers. Spaces are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

Members’ Time. Mindfulness and breathing techniques

Learn from a like-minded expatriate and have the chance to chat and share your experiences. Each event will feature a different topic and will be led by a different FOCUS member. Come and discuss a subject relevant to expat life and make new friends. We launch this new initiative with a talk on mindfulness and breathing techniques led by Grazia Piras, FOCUS member since May 2018. Grazia is an expat, mum, chair of the City Parent Carer Forum in the City of London, natural resources management consultant and experienced yoga teacher who leads yoga workshops across Europe and USA.


A journey into decision-making

Life in general but especially as an expat means lots and lots of decisions; some are major and some maybe minor but still important to us. Join Giorgia Prestento, behavioural scientist and director at Choice and Design, to learn about the science behind decision-making, how the brain processes information and what this means for us. In this interactive session Giorgia will talk about the importance of the intuitive and rational parts of the brain and will share tips on how to take control of our decision-making process.
