My top four essential oil picks for cleaning:
Lemon – cleanses and purifies the air and surfaces. Great for your wood and leather cleaning recipes. Cuts through grease and grime. Smells bright, fresh, and cheerful. My favourite use: to remove the sticky residue left over from stickers and price tags.
Melaleuca – (otherwise known as tea tree) great for sinks, toilets and places prone to mildew. A powerful cleanser. My favourite use: I add a few drops to my wool dryer balls to keep my clothes fresh and clean.
Peppermint – powerful and invigorating, a great one to add for window and glass cleaner. My favourite use: wiping down surfaces where ants like to enter the house. Ants hate peppermint!
Lavender – cleansing and soothing. My favourite use: making a linen spray to keep bedding smelling clean (and encouraging a good night’s sleep).
