Call for Artists Deadline is Feb 7th: Coffey Park Neighborhood Park Public Art Project

upbeat@upbeattimes.com

Santa Rosa, CA – The City of Santa Rosa Public Art Pro- gram is seeking an artist or team of artists to design, fab- ricate and install public art in Coffey Neighborhood Park, in conjunction with the redesign/ rebuild of the park post-fire. Deadline to submit qualifi- cations is February 7, 2019. Artists may visit www.srcity. org/3021 to download the Re- quest for Qualifications and an application.

Eligibility: This commission is open to practicing, profes- sional artists residing in Cal- ifornia.

Description of Project Opportunity: Coffey Neigh- borhood Park Public Art. The artist or artist team se- lected for this project will be required to undertake re- search and discussion with key stakeholders and thought- fully engage the Coffey Park neighborhood to develop a concept proposal for the pub- lic art project. From prelim- inary surveys of the neigh- borhood, residents indicate a preference for interactive and

functional public art, includ- ing playground equipment and seating. The public art should be integrated into the design of the park as much as possible. Design elements should reflect the identity and resiliency of the Coffey Park neighborhood and respect- fully commemorate the Tubbs Fire.

Project Location: Installation will be sited at Coffey Neigh- borhood Park (1524 Amanda Place, Santa Rosa, CA) in Northwest Santa Rosa. The park is located at the heart of the heavily fire-damaged Cof- fey Park Neighborhood.

Project Budget: The to- tal available funding for the project is $50,000. The fund- ing for this public art project comes from the City of Santa Rosa Public Art Fund.

5:00pm on February 7, 2019 . Contact: Tara Thompson, Arts Coordinator, (707) 543-4512, tthompson@srcity.org
