CONTEMPLATING ISO CERTIFICATION?

Before contemplating ISO certification, businesses often ask a lot of questions, here we thought we would answer the most common. Allowing you some insight into the benefits and considerations of gaining ISO certification.
My company is small so why should I have ISO certification?
If you want to grow your business, one of the ways you can do this is to increase your profile. You will add credibility to your business as ISO certification is a valuable gauge of how well you manage quality. This will allow you to pitch for bigger contracts, grow your business and bring more people in when you need them.
Does ISO accreditation cost a lot of money?
It depends on your business. A budget of £5,000 to £10,00 is reasonable. We can help you secure match or even 100% funding. Ask yourself “What is the lifetime value of a new customer?”
What do I need to do to get ISO certification?
To gain certification, first understand what the standard needs you to do, then consider a simple but effective business management model and put suitable processes in place to manage this. Once this is in place, build up evidence to show you are using the system effectively and review how things are working. Finally, have an independent agency audit you, who can then issue your certificate.
How long does it take to get ISO accreditation?
It depends on how large and complex you are, and what needs to change to comply with the requirements. Typically, we advise clients to budget three to four months but with real focus, we can get it done in four to six weeks.
Do I need a full-time quality manager to keep on top of a quality system?
No. Quality should be built into everything you do anyway, and all you might need is someone to periodically check that everything is working and that you are keeping everything up to date. We have clients where we are their Quality Manager, going to site to do this on their behalf.
ISO certification only applies to manufacturing businesses, right?
Absolutely not. It is for any organisation, public or private sector, and of any size from a one-person company upwards.
