Discover Herøy’s many beautiful islands, bridges, archipelago and the fantastic view of the mountains of the Seven Sisters, Dønnamannen, Lovund and Vega. Herøy is the quintessential island community with its 2,000 islands, rocks and skerries.


Herøy is accessible by fast ferry from Sandnessjøen, Vega, Nesna and Bodø or by ferry from Søvik or Sandnessjøen via Dønna. The fast ferry from Sandnessjøen takes around 20 mins and the ferry from Søvik around 25 mins.


ACTIVITIES There are very good ÿshing areas in the municipality. Visitors will also experience ° ourishing animal and bird life. Herøy is a paradise for biking enthusiasts. The road winds from island to island and across small and large bridges. The route, Herøy to Dønna, is a path to adventure. Take side roads and get closer to the cultural landscape, old coastal settings and the sea. There are good ÿshing spots and a number of exciting activities.


HELGELAND CATHEDRAL Herøy church, also know as ”Helgeland cathedral”, is a stone church from the 12th century. It features a memorial of the poet and priest Petter Dass at Nord-Herøy farm, where author Petter Dass was born in 1647. Herøy Rural Museum

(Helgeland Museum) is located at the vicarage and consists of a complete farm facility including 7 buildings. The museum has one of Nordland’s largest collections of objects from ÿshing and hunting.


RIB SAFARI During summer, Seløy Kystferie o˛ ers guided RIB excursions in the archipelago. Here you can experience the coastal ocean and forces of nature along with visiting the island villages and learning about their exciting history.
