Norway’s geographic midpoint is located in Sømna. This is a fertile municipality with agriculture and forestry as important industries. The Kystriksveien coastal route is the main highway through the municipality and links the villages together.
The gateway to Sømna in the south is Vennesund. This place has long tradition as a trading post and visitors will ÿnd camping, ÿsherman’s cabins, boat rentals and a renovated wharf with food service. From here, it is a nice walk along the shoreline to Olavskilden (St. Olaf’s Source). On the way, you pass by the sculpture, Hai-Ku-Badekar (Artscape Nordland). There are a number of historical monuments in the area.
