Vikna is an island municipality on the Namdal Coast. Rørvik as a coastal city surrounded by thousands of islands. In Rørvik Harbour, visitors find Norveg - coastal Norway’s most spectacular architectural structure and coastal museum. The north- and southbound Coastal Express (Hurtigruten) meet here each evening.


COASTAL CULTURE Experience the history of the coastal town of Rørvik through a visit to Berggården old trading place, which is one of the coastal museums many buildings. You can also stay overnight in the museum in the city center of Rørvik ! At the museum, 10,000 years of history is presented via an exciting exhibition. Afterwards you can have a taste of the coast in the café at the museum. The museum celebrates 100th anniversary in 2019.


“ISLAND HOPPING” AND THE OLD SØR-GJÆSLINGAN FISHING VILLAGE Vikna’s unique archipelago with its 6,000 islands, islets and skerries o˜ ers many activities. During summer, the local boat brings overnight guests (Wed., Fri., Sat. and Sun) and day visi- tors (Sat., Sun.) out to the protected ÿshing village on Sør-Gjæslingan. Here you can spend the night in a ÿsherman’s cabin and experience historical, coastal culture in authentic surroundings.


Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the


summer season, regular organized tours from Rørvik go to the ÿshing village Sør Gjæslingan.


EVENTS Cod ÿshing and shipping tra˛c along the shipping lane has formed the local history, and a number of the annual events in Rørvik are based on related traditions: the culinary and cultural festival known as “The Skrei (cod) Festival” (March), The Coastal City Trade Fair (April), and the Rørvikdagene Festival (July).
