is a nice area for biking, but be aware of the distances. Take the ferry from Søvik to Herøy and from Sandnessjøen to Dønna.
Sandnessjøen is the departure point for the express boat servicing Lovund and Træna. You can also get here via ferry from Stokkvågen. You do not need a car on these islands, so we recommend that you leave it parked it at Stokkvågen. Lovund is known for its Puffin olony while Træna is a landmark of the Helgeland Coast with its Trænstaven. The music festival ‘Træna Festival’ is held each July. The remote and exotic island of Myken has the World’s northernmost Arctic whisky distillery.
In the northernmost part of the Helgeland Coast lies Meløy where you find the islands of tøtt and Bolga. The southbound express boat from Bodø has stops at Støtt, Ørnes, Grønøy and Bolga, which makes it easy to hop from one island to another.
The northbound express boat from Sandnessjøen makes the same stops after first s opping at the island of Rødøy and Vågaholmen on the mainland. On Støtt you can enjoy nice overnight accommodation and fine dining t the island’s 300 year-old trading post.
