By Karen St.Clair, AAMET Certified EFT Practitioner B

efore you started reading this article, what were you thinking about? Something like:

• What if he/she doesn’t call me back…does it mean they don’t like me?

• What did I do wrong?

• What should I make for dinner? What I made last night wasn’t that great!

Without realizing it, our minds natu-

rally keep us either in the past or the future. Our thoughts drive our lives as we unwit- tingly allow them to control us.

Here’s how EFT Tapping can break that

cycle and allow you to clear limiting beliefs and regain control of your thoughts.

One evening, I met a gentleman while attending a social gathering of friends and colleagues at the most plush hotel I had ever seen. The elegance surrounded me like outstretched arms. There were many beauti- ful settees awaiting the next conversation by a party of two. As I scanned the room, I couldn’t resist the urge to experience each one for myself. As I was sitting on my third settee, exquisitely upholstered with a cream sateen pattern and adorned with natural pearl trim, the gentleman asked if he could sit down with me. (I almost said no be- cause at that moment, I felt like Cinderella at the Prince’s castle!)

He introduced himself as Connor and

asked me what my life story was. I thought for a moment and decided to share the abbreviated version of my story; after all, I didn’t even know this man! He seemed to enjoy hearing about how I was born in a small village in upstate NY on Cayuga Lake, the largest finger of the Finger Lakes. My timeline version wrapped up with my ca- reer path of Advertising Agency owner and EFT Tapping Practitioner. “And you?” I asked.

I was expecting a confident, vibrant description of a storybook life, but that couldn’t have been further from the truth. Connor’s body language changed pointing toward insecurity and self-consciousness. He didn’t know where to begin, but more importantly, prefaced each attempt at telling his tale with i.e. “I’m not very good at this, but…” OR “You’ll think I’m crazy, but..” OR “Even though we didn’t have much when I was a kid…” The story had its ups and downs, but woven into each detail was the common thread of his limiting belief; “I’m not good enough”.

That message resounded in every turn

on his life’s path. I watched as he would pause to silently refer to a past memory before speaking. Always checking in with the past; not able to tune into the present moment or himself.

I listened intently as my expectation

of Connor’s biography shifted from confi- dence to unease. He barely got through it, and without notice, segued into asking me questions about my careers. Understanding ownership of an advertising agency didn’t evoke quite the mountain of questions that Connor had about EFT Tapping. “What is EFT Tapping? I’ve never heard of it. Is it like investment transfers?” (Well, at least he was asking!)

As I explained how the process of

Tapping works, his eyes opened wide with wonder. He asked, “What inspired you to become an EFT practitioner?”

I explained, “I will never forget my first experience with EFT. I was able to per- manently erase 16 years of sciatic pain in one 20-minute session by uncovering the emotional cause of the pain. That was so profound that I knew I had to share this gift with everyone who wants to be free from physical or emotional pain.”

“How does it work? Can you show me?”, Connor asked.

I began tapping on the facial meridian

points to illustrate how EFT Tapping works which elicited many raised eyebrows in the crowd including Connor’s. “Would you like to try it?”, I asked. With a quick response, he said, “Why, yes I’m very intrigued.”
