The Collectables: Year in Bioanalysis

Bioanalysis Zone highlights

We are pleased to present the 2017 edition of Te Collectables: Year in Bioanalysis – a special supplement highlighting content from the journal Bioanalysis and Bioanalysis Zone, carefully selected by the editors.

Bioanalysis Zone continues to be the online home of bioanalysis, developing with the field as topics diversify, novel technologies enter the arena and methodologies are refined.

Over the last year, as part of our Spotlight features, we have thoroughly explored four hot topics in bioanalysis including: ‘Future trends in outsourcing’, ‘Te bioanalysis of biopharmaceuticals and biomarkers’, ‘Oligonucleotides’ and ‘Emerging technologies: DMPK and the analysis of small molecules’. We have also ‘Asked the Experts’ in features focused on ‘Metabolomics’ and ‘Biosimilars’ and were delighted to announce the 2017 winner of the New Investigator Award, Matthew Lockett (University of North Carolina; NC, USA).

A particular highlight of 2017 was the launch of our new roundtable series entitled ‘Te business of bioanalysis’. Chaired by Scott Fountain (Charles River Laboratories; MA, USA), the panel discussed several contemporary topics including: emerging technologies; recruiting and talent development; and mergers and acquisitions. Tis panel discussion granted the Bioanalysis Zone team with a unique opportunity for conversation between experts from leading pharmaceutical companies and CROs about key issues faced in the bioanalytical arena and potential solutions for common challenges.

In this supplement, we have taken the opportunity to catch-up with the authors of some of our most popular features from 2017, to gain a fresh perspective on their research and to reflect on the changes and key advancements in the field over the last year.

In 2018, both Bioanalysis and the Bioanalysis Zone teams will continue to focus on key topics in bioanalysis through a variety of different content styles, including some never- seen-before smaller features and the development of the Education Zone. We aim to continually develop both publications to match the rapidly developing field, to suit the modern bioanalyst.

We hope you enjoy the supplement.
