FROM THE PRESIDENT Paul Davis
Greetings! As the fair season is gearing up
and our summer comes to an end, I want to share with you a message of review, reflection and excitement for the year ahead. Our Florida Federation of Fairs annual summer
workshop went off without a hitch! We enjoyed the fellowship of more than 75 participants. A special thanks to our sponsors Charles Panacek with Belle City Amusements and Steve and Miri- am White with EMC Tickets. The event was a wonderful opportunity for us to collaborate and to share concerns and ideas to keep our organiza- tion at the top of its game. This is your federation and we want you to feel a part of it – we encourage you to get involved. Our representatives also had the honor of attending the FFA State Conven-
tion in Orlando. To say we were “wowed” was an understatement! FFA Con- vention is an experience every individual within our organization should, if giv- en the opportunity, attend. We walked away with a renewed sense of enthusi- asm and appreciation for agriculture and the role in which the FFA has to de- velop future leaders in agribusiness. As we look forward to the International Association of Fair and Expositions
convention in San Antonio Texas, we encourage you to register to attend clas- ses and reach out to the federation to discuss any items to add to our agenda. We are excited about the venue and look forward to networking through pro- fessional development and of course perusing the aisles of the trade show. It will be a refreshing change to see the sites of San Antonio and an eventful week for all of us as we celebrate our accomplishments from the previous year.
I would like to also take an opportunity to briefly mention our recent trip to
Georgia where we visited the Perry National Fair. As always, we were wel- comed with such wonderful hospitality and down-home southern charm unlike any other. We were impressed with the amount of acreage within the grounds and how well they maintain and manage their facility. We took a slight detour through a cotton field where we acquired some pretty incriminating photos but we’ll leave those details for another day. You can read more about our trip to the Perry National Fair in this quarter’s issue of the Firecracker. As always, please remember to have a fun and safe fair season and I look forward to seeing all of you very soon!
