Northeast Florida Fair-Country Pride-County Wide The 71st annual Northeast Florida Fair was held October 11-21, 2018 in Callahan. This
year's theme was "Country Pride-County Wide"! Our Board of Trustees worked hard to plan an exciting event. This year we made several improvements on the grounds. Hildebrand Rides had an exciting midway and a variety of games planned for the whole
family. Ride specials were available each day of the fair. This year's entertainment included shows by the Kandu Magic Show, and a variety of
local entertainers. The local school bands and Sunshine Monkey Shines were highlights of the Fair. Jesse and Danielle from Sunshine Monkey Shines strolled throughout the Fair showing the talents they had with their animals. We also had several new vendors that
brought new activities and products to the Fair. There was so much to do and see at the Northeast Florida Fair. The Home Arts Building had exhibits provided by Nas-
sau County Schools. The annual pallet decorating contest was available for 4-H and FFA groups. The exhibits highlight- ed the fair's theme. Other competitions were arts, crafts, canned and baked goods, and horticulture exhibits prepared by all ages. As always, the fair is a time to showcase youth in the community. Youth from 4-H and FFA had animals on display and were able to participate in judging contests and other events. The milkable cow and other interactive agri- cultural activities were enjoyed by the children. The annual talent show was a time for participants of all ages to show- case their individual talents. The Mud Swag Truck Show was held the first weekend of the Fair. The trucks were on display and fairgoers were
able to vote for their favorite truck. The truck with the most votes received a special, handmade trophy. Geiger Rodeo provided a first class rodeo the second weekend. Contestants participated in rough stock and timed events and there was a calf scramble for the kids. This rodeo was the year end finals for the World Wide Rodeo Association. The Northeast Florida Fair is an annual event that focuses on the promotion of youth, history, agriculture, and edu-
cation. We have a brand new website that we invite you to check out. For more information and updates visit,

Hillsborough County Fair-Good Times & Country Rhymes The 2018 Hillsborough County Fair Harvest Queen Scholarship Pageant was held on Sat,
Sept 22 at 5 pm at the Hillsborough County Fair Exhibition Hall. The event was well attended with over 300 guests present and 21 contestants. Christina Wellen was crowned our 2018 Senior Harvest Queen and Bridget McLaughlin was crowned our 2018 Junior Harvest Queen. Each will receive a scholarship for their title. Beginning in 2017, the Hillsborough County Fair pageant committee and fair board, decided
to hold the pageant a few weeks prior to the fair instead of during the fair. This has turned out very successful, as the queens are crowned prior to the fair and are available to help pro- mote the fair to the media prior to the fair dates. This also allows for organization of the queen's schedule so they can be available for promotions, media events and appearances during the fair. This was the first year the pageant charged an admission for entry. After much discussion,
the fair board decided to charge a $5 admission to the pageant and our attendance increased from prior years. The pageant also charged for pageant programs and had roses available for sale for attendees to purchase for the contestants. It was a great night and our fair will be well represented by our 2018 Queens.
