d37 DESIGNER KITCHEN & BATHROOM AWARDS 2018 Sponsored by

Georgia Clark receiving her award from Matt Phillips of award sponsor Rotpunkt (left) and awards host George Lamb

Painted inside and out, the cabinet doors and fascias from deVOL’s Real Shaker range are made from maple and tulipwood and the carcases are made from a high grade birch ply.

Designer Georgia Clark suggested keeping everything very simple but very dramatic. The idea was to stick to a very minimal colour scheme, using the Pantry Blue colour for the cupboards, walls and the ceiling. To keep things feeling straightforward and seamless, Clark and the owners designed the appliances to be integrated where possible, helping to achieve an uncluttered feel and a space that is more like a whole living area than just a room to do chores.

he owners of this property wanted something that looked original and memorable but was also soft and calming and a place you never want to leave.

The classic chunky Esse range cooker in one corner is black which continues the bold theme without being too much of a contrast with the rest of the space. The design kept the chimney breast which could have been a bit overlooked in such a statement room but, with the addition of the aged copper splashback, takes on a more prominent role, adding character and depth to the whole room.

The worktops on the cabinets are iroko wood – a clever choice in such a dark room where stone worktops would potentially have felt too cold and hard. By contrast, Iroko is warm and soft and works beautifully with the original beams in the kitchen.

Clark and the clients worked together to create an atmospheric space. Every design decision was made thoughtfully and carefully, with each element strong in its own right, but combined to create something truly special.
