all about keeping active and making the most of retirement. Staying physically fit and mentally active has many benefits. Tere are many social groups organised by older people for older people throughout Kent. So whether you’re interested in finding new friends or taking up a new activity, there’s a group for you.
Age UK Friendship Centres Age UK works with a number of friendship centres across the county. Tey provide a great way to meet like-minded people and make friends in your area. Te friendship centres are oſten run by groups of active older people who meet regularly for social activities, which could include rambling, tenpin bowling, pub lunches, theatre visits, holidays and days out. Active Retirement Associations Kent has numerous Active Retirement Associations which are aimed at any retired or semi-retired person. So if siting staring at the TV is not for you, then maybe an Active Retirement Club will be. From walks with a pub lunch, bowls, coach trips, dances and more are all on offer at the many clubs in the county. Te activities are oſten varied so that there should be something to suit most people - come along and try - you will always be welcome! Adult Education Centres Kent Adult Education Centres across the county offer a variety of courses for all abilities and ages. Many courses take place during the day at easily accessible centres. KE also offer Club60 which is the new and improved loyalty scheme designed to help learners aged 60+ get the most out of Kent Adult Education.

U3A U3A (Te University of the Tird Age) is a national organisation bringing together people in their ‘third age’ to develop their interests and continue their learning in a friendly and informal environment. Te third age is defined as a time aſter you have finished full-time working or raising a family and have time to pursue other interests. For three decades, U3A has had a ‘university’ of members who draw
upon their knowledge and experience to teach and learn from each other but there are no qualifications to pass – it is just for pleasure. Tere are now over 1,000 U3As across the UK, with thousands of interest groups between them and more than 400,000 members nationally.
