CONTINENTAL COLLECTION of Barnt Green presents a Fashion Show on Weds Oct 24 at the Chateau Impney in Droitwich from 6.30pm. Tickets £20 to in- clude cheese and wine, with proceeds to Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer. The mod- els are all women who have undergone treatment for breast cancer. A COMMUNITY Litter Pick organised by Alvechurch Village Society takes place on Sun Oct 14, 10.30am–12.30pm. Meet out- side The Lounge (where refreshments are available 10.30am–1pm). A CHRISTMAS Fair takes place at Alvechurch Cricket Club on Sat Nov 17, in aid of Brain Tumour Research, MND Association and The Lounge. The event runs from 10.30am–3pm and features refreshments and stalls including knit- ted items made by the Alvechurch Knit & Natter group. Entry is free. In support of the same charities, Cynthia Lawton of Knit & Natter has organised a village raffle, with fabulous prizes. Tickets will be on sale at The Lounge from Oct 1, and the draw takes place on Dec 17.

A SUPER Shoe Box Saturday takes place at St Andrew’s Church Barnt Green on Sat Oct 6 from 10am–3pm, packing shoe boxes of gifts for children in Zambia. All welcome. Tea, coffee and cake available. Anyone is welcome to come and help. Gifts are collected throughout the year but more are always welcome.

EXPLORING SHOSTAKOVICH, presented by Festive Classics, is a weekend of music and talks at Artrix in Bromsgrove, cel- ebrating the composer’s life and work. BARNT GREEN Choral Society is now rehearsing for the 2018-19 season. It’s a non-audition choral society; new mem- bers always welcome.
