PLANS TO commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I are under way in Alvechurch and Barnt Green. A Peace Concert takes place
at Alvechurch Middle School at 7.30pm on Friday Novem- ber 9, with performances by Alvechurch Community Choir, Cantare Choir, Crown Meadow Peace Choir, Acoustic Belles and Withybed Poets. Entry is free, but it’s advisable to get a ticket to ensure a seat – these are available from The Lounge. On Sunday November 11
there’s an 11am service at the green on Bear Hill, at which the Community Choir will also sing.

Barnt Green Parish Council has decided to install a flag- pole in Millennium Park, with a plaque to mark 100 years since the Armistice. It is hoped that this will be in place by Novem- ber 11. Councillors also discussed suggestions for a commemora- tive tree or bench on Parker’s Piece playing field.
