Prizes to be won in home contest I


n conjunction with Alvechurch Pumpkin Festival, Alvechurch Village Society is encouraging


residents to enter a Best-Dressed House competition on the theme of Pumpkins and Halloween. Entry forms can be obtained by calling 0121 445 1683, emailing alvechurchsociety@outlook.com or collecting from the Parish Office or library. The Village magazine is not the only local business celebrating its second decade – Hopwood Garden Centre also has its 20th birthday this year. Owned by Lin and Pete Joannides,


the centre on Ash Lane is known for its friendly customer service.

n This year’s Oakalls Commu- nity Christmas gathering takes place on Sunday December 23 at 6.30pm, on the open grassed area by the notice board and Trianon Road. Blackwell Concert Band will accompany the carols and there will be refreshments, sweets and a visit from Father Christmas.


Lickey & Blackwell Parish Council is holding a children’s competition. Entrants should draw or paint a picture of their favourite tree or write a poem about a tree on A4 paper, and put their name, age and phone number on the back. Take completed entries to the
