In an earlier issue of World Evangelism, we told you of an after-school learning program that is reaching Roma children in Ceuas Village. A dedicated teacher who fluently speaks Hungarian meets with a group of Roma children at a local classroom every weekday to give them a real chance at learning. They are studying reading, writing, and basic math. They are also being taught to speak Romanian, a key tool for these children to assimilate into Romanian society. A second teacher comes once a week to teach them about Jesus. The children also receive much-needed nutritious lunches and snacks. The two teachers love these Roma children dearly, and their pupils are thriving in this healthy, nourishing environment.


In other poor Gypsy villages in Romania, the Roma children need your help simply to attend school. Those with the desire to learn cannot go to class without backpacks, school supplies, and (in some cases) required uniforms. For families barely able to provide meals, clothes, and a small shack for shelter, there is no way to get the items required for school. And without a basic education, these children may never experience the joy of reading the Word of God for themselves.


There are also the children at Cornesti Orphanage, a state-run facility in Moldova. The staff of Cornesti, many of whom are believers, work hard to stretch the meager funds they receive from the government. In the past, WME donors have provided essential items like ovens and washing machines to the grateful adults and children at that Home. Right now, we need to provide school supplies for 75 children at the Cornesti Orphanage. They would be so excited to have what they need to participate in school.


You can impact a young life in Romania and Moldova TODAY. These are children that society has ignored or despised, children left to extreme lack and obscurity. But God sees them as precious – made in His image, souls He sacrificed His beloved Son to save. Let’s join together to extend mercy to the poor and fatherless children of Romania and Moldova.
