A common saying going back centuries is, “If these walls could talk, imagine the stories they would tell.” I have often walked into WME Children’s Homes wishing the buildings could tell me the stories they have witnessed through the years. I think those walls would speak of children laughing and running their halls, of little ones who shyly stepped through their doors with no hope, but who left years later as confident young adults. The walls would proudly tell the stories of kids who came to the Homes more dead than alive and left to pursue careers as evangelists, pastors, doctors, nurses, teachers, businessmen, skilled craftsmen, seamstresses, farmers, government officials, community leaders, and parents.


I also feel confident the walls would testify of the goodness of God to touch the hearts of His people and inspire them to provide a place of safety for the most vulnerable in society. No doubt they would praise the Lord for lives snatched like brands out of the fire. They would shout the
