TURNING WALLS INTO ART

Join in There is nothing children enjoy more that you drawing with them.

Make a mess If you are brave you can get the paints out. Ask your child to use their fingers to paint. The physicality of the paint is a wonderful thing and adds another dimension to their enjoyment of creating something.

Take drawing materials on holiday as it can be a fabulous distraction on a plane or in a restaurant. Some of my children’s best drawings have been on a restaurant napkin!

Jill Evans is a local artist. She has a BA hons in Fine Art, Central St Martins.

I am always amazed at the work children can produce. Recently I ran an art competition at Coombe Hill Junior School based on the themes of construction, hospital and the environment. The work the children created was incredible!! The prize was to have their work displayed on the hoardings outside

the New Victoria Hospital. As you can see, the diversity of styles, content and media is wide ranging and I hope some of these talented children choose to work in the creative industries in the future. Even if they don’t, I hope they continue to enjoy creating beautiful art just for fun!
