Baltimore’s fierce femmes are building brands and businesses that shape the city’s culinary, design and fitness communities. In fact, Sharefile’s Businesswoman Power City Index ranked Baltimore as the top city for female entrepreneurs in the U.S.


Cindy Wolf, executive owner and founder of Charleston, is a seven-time James Beard Foundation finalist for Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic. Often credited with sparking Baltimore’s restaurant resur- gence when she opened Charleston in the 1990s, Wolf truly brings the art to culinary arts at her acclaimed restaurant, which combines French fun- damentals and South Carolina low country cooking.


Other foodie females are breaking barriers, as well. Jasmine Norton of The Urban Oyster is both the first female and first black owner of an oyster bar in Maryland, while LaKeisha Henderson created Bike & Brunch Tours as a way for locals and visitors to engage with Baltimore’s African-American commu- nities.


Located in the historic original Power Plant Building Inner Harbor, the event-planning venue Hard Rock Cafe Baltimore sits between the world-renowned National Aquarium and Harbor East and creates event experiences for up to 800 guests.
