Volunteer to Coach Ashleigh Brennan’s Story
thoroughly enjoyed and still continue to do so today. I also attended several courses such as Judge Level 1, Team Managers Award and The Organisers Award. Taking part in these courses gave me new knowledge and new qualifications.
As part of my Young Volunteers Programme I had to organise an event, I chose to run a mini gala for the learn to swim programme as at the time, they didn’t have an opportunity to compete.
My name is Ashleigh Brennan and I am 17 years old. I swim with my local swimming club Trowbridge ASC. I first became involved in coaching through the Young Volunteer Programme. I started teaching with my club assisting with the learn to swim programme which I
I continued on to complete my Level 2 Teaching Aquatics Qualification, received mentoring from a Level 3 coach and have received a Highly Commended Award for Young Volunteer of the Year at The Wiltshire and Swindon Awards. I am very proud to also mentor the new volunteers on the Young Volunteer Programme within my club. I hope to continue teaching and possibly gain my Level 3 qualification. I am planning on going to University to study a sports coaching degree.
