Greetings from WYACDA Guest Association News

The Children’s Honor Choir took place in Cody, June 1 - 2, 2018, directed by Dr. Andrea Ramsey. This was a fabulous event for participating children that began with an opening rehearsal on Friday evening, resuming again Saturday morning, and culminating with a concert at 4:00 p.m. in Wynona Thompson Auditorium on the Cody High School Campus. Directors had the opportunity to attend a clinic Friday evening with Dr. Ramsey while students enjoyed the evening at the Cody Recreation Center.

What a treat it was to have Dr. Andrea Ramsey come to Wyoming for this event! She enjoys a national presence as a composer, conductor, scholar, and music educator. Her teaching experiences range from work with adolescent and children’s voices to high school and collegiate voices. She enjoys regular opportunities to conduct all-state and division level honor choirs and festival events at Carnegie Hall, and serves as a principal conductor for the Pacific International Young Women’s Choral Festival in Eugene, Oregon. Thanks a million to the twenty-seven

participating directors who prepared their students for the event and to the Cody teachers who did a marvelous job hosting! (see related article next page)

I enjoyed very much attending the National Leadership in Kansas City on May 29- 31, 2018. The upcoming 2019 National Conference at this site is going to be an awesome event.

We are looking forward to our fall conference that will once again be held at Casper College on Saturday, September 22, 2018, with a middle-voices emphasis. This will be a one-day conference that all Wyoming ACDA members will want to attend – there will be valuable sessions that can apply to everyone. We invite non- members to attend as well. Be looking for registration for this event on our website wyomingacda.org. Our headliner clinician will be Dan Davison. Dan is an educator, composer, adjudicator, clinician, and singer from the Pacific Northwest. He has been the choir director at Ballou Junior High in Puyallup, Washington since 1979.
