Village Leavers
WHAT SEEMED like the whole of Barnt Green turned out to say farewell to Kay Cholmondeley when she retired as head of St Andrew’s First School after 20 years. As a special surprise, Hewell Road was lined with current and former pupils, parents and villagers as Kay and her staff processed from the school to her leaving drinks at the Victoria pub.
THE LAWNS residential home in Alvechurch waved good- bye to some long-serving members of staff at a garden party. Care manager Chris
Caldicott retired after 15 years, along with husband Dave who has also worked at The Lawns for seven years, while senior team leader Becky Tolley was leaving after 11 years. As Chris is a big Elvis fan, there was enter- tainment by “The King” (Dave Dixon), as well as plenty of fizz and a special cake (above) made by housekeeper Lyn Farmer. Right (from left): Dave Caldicott, Lawns
owner Darren Oliver, Margaret Underhill (who is taking over Chris’ role), Becky Tolley, Chris Caldicott, Dave Dixon.
