Control instrumentation and electrical wiring specialists CMR Group has secured a second Investors in People Gold (IIP) for its ‘outstanding’ commitment to staff development and training. The award, achieved by only a handful of UK organisations and reflecting best practice, sees CMR UK accredited against the sixth generation Investors in People standard. The Newcastle-based company initially gained IIP Gold
in 2014 on the back of staff investment and new perfor- mance systems to improve quality and customer service levels. Now, a second award reflects success in the company’s
shift towards becoming a global partner to engine manufacturers and better management, development and support of employees. It is expected that the commitment to use the IIP framework as a key part of its people development programme, will lead to CMR securing Platinum level at its next assessment. Donna Warwick, HR supervisor, said: “This is another
ringing endorsement of our commitment to developing a highly skilled and motivated workforce. “We will continue to strive for outstanding performance
levels, with clear ambition for the Newcastle factory to remain a high performing facility within an organisation with a global reach.” IIP Gold offers a comprehensive framework that helps organisations to improve performance and realise objectives through the effective management and development of staff. CMR UK is part of the global CMR Group, which supplies instrumentation, controls and power management for offshore platforms and vessels, marine, engine and industrial applications around the world. With core product groups including automation, control
panels, displays, sensors, wiring systems, power distribution, signal processing and supervision, CMR Group, headquartered in Marseille, France, is an engineering partner for many leading manufacturers, operators and integrators of capital equipment.

HWEnergy has specialised exclusively in biomass heat- ing since 2003 and has developed a considerable expertise in the operation and maintenance of biomass heating systems for a number of clients. A company spokesman said: “Our partnership approach to service has ensured we have designed our service products around maintaining high levels of system operation and efficiency. “We offer service options on
It’s been six months since Infinis, the largest renewable landfill gas to energy business in the UK, completed wo 2MW propane powered peaking generation projects at Arlesey in Bedfordshire and Dogsthorpe in Peterborough. The P3 Projects as they are known are the first propane powered peaking generation projects in the Infinis fleet utilising Caterpillar 3500 engine technology - and are believed to be the first in the UK. The drive for decarbonisation over recent years has resulted in the rapid and increasing deployment of intermittent renewable power generation such as solar and wind which has presented National Grid with challenges in managing grid system stability and assuring security of supply. This, coupled with the closure of large thermal power plants further intensifies the grid stability issue. As such, there is an ever-growing need for highly responsive, flexible generation to
help manage this situation and Infinis is in a unique position to meet this growing demand by utilising its spare grid connection and engine capacity from its landfill gas business, providing fast responsive peaking power from alternative fuel sources. Infinis Managing Director, Shane Pickering, commented “We are delighted that our
first P3 projects have transitioned into operation. These are the first projects of their kind and a huge collaborative effort has gone into making this happen.”
