Identify power cables with wrap-around labels in 5 seconds

Brady Corporation's

Wraptor A6500 Wire Identification Printer Applicator can significantly increase production output by identifying cables with wrap-around labels in just 5 seconds. The Wraptor automatically prints and applies the label on a wide range of insertable cables, saving up to 10 sec- onds per identified cableIncreased efficiency The Wraptor A6500 is said to

be a great tool to control manufacturing costs and enhance identification quality by automatically printing and applying labels. It identifies cables in 5 seconds, eliminates the need to print labels in advance and the time needed to apply them by hand. www.brady.co.uk

EM330 3-phase Energy Analyser With 5A CT Connection From Carlo Gavazzi

Carlo Gavazzi is currently marketing its EM330 3- phase energy meter with 5A CT input. As with all meters in EM300 Series, the EM330 utilises touchscreen technology making standard user operations such as page scrolling, programming and parameter checks not only simpler, but faster. They are easier to read, as well, avoid- ing any mechanical issues normally associated with using traditional keypads. The EM340 is housed in a 3-DIN module and offers outstanding ease of use & performance, measuring imported and exported energy. The EM330 3-phase energy meter with 3x8 digit backlit LCD data display and integrated touch keypad; suited to active energy metering, cost allocation and dual tariff management. The meter is optionally provided with pulse output as an alternative to the serial communication via RS485 Modbus port or M-bus output.

A selection of variables can be programmed to display providing for active and reactive energy measurement, options include: system variables such as kW, kvar, kVA, VLL, VLN, PF, Hz, kWdmd, kWdmd peak; phase variables including kW, kvar, kVA, VLN, A, PF. Energy measurement: kWh and kvarh (imported/ exported); kWh+ by 2 tariffs; kWh per phase.

Instantaneous variables are displayed as 3 x 4 digits, with energy meter readings to 8 digits. Accuracy is ±0.5% RDG (V, A), and the meter is rated Class B (kWh) according to EN50470-3 and Class 1 (kWh) of EN62053- 21.

The EM300 series of meters

is also available as MID certified. The European Union’s Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) is designed to guarantee the accuracy and reliability of meters. www.carlogavazzi.co.uk

Lewden unveils its latest range of fire-rated isolator switches - the units are AC3-AC23A rated to guarantee safe operation Lewden has produced a

range of fire-rated isolator switches that are ideal for commercial and industrial facilities where a maintained electrical power is vital to allow the safe evacuation of public areas in the event of fire.

These fire-rated isolator

switches have been manufactured using high quality aluminium alloy and they contain a highly visible handle that has been patented by Palazzoli and allows even ‘non-expert’ users to understand the switch status of the unit easily in the case of emergency. The units are AC3-AC23A

rated to guarantee safe operation, even with highly inductive loads and they also have customisable entry flanges thanks to blind or threaded flanges from Lewden’s Allupres range. With an IP66/67/55 rating for

use in the most arduous conditions, these robust fire-rated switches also have an impact standard of IK10. The switches conform to standards IEC/EN 60947-3, IEC/EN 60947-5-1 and EN 12101-3 and have an operating temperature of -25°C - +70°C. The range includes 16A, 25A, 40A and 63A options in 3, 4 and 6 pole variants in addition to a 125A

option in 3 & 4 pole variants. Accessories include flat flanges, in aluminium alloy with metric threading for windowed walls and cable glands in insulating material with metric threading and an IP68 rating. www.lewden.com

38 JULY - AUGUST 2018 UK Power NewS

esigned specifically for carrying out fast non-invasive online partial discharge (PD) surveys in MV and HV substations,

Megger’s new UHF Partial Discharge Detector measures PD activity at frequencies above those of common disturbances. This allows it to deliver accurate and dependable results for a

wide range of assets, including cable-end terminations, surge arrestors, voltage transformers and isolators. The compact, handheld instrument features a large colour touchscreen for easy operation and has dual-channel capability that allows direct comparison of the results obtained from two types of UHF sensor or from two phases. It is compatible with a wide range of sensors and, in addition to its primary UHF functionality it can also be used to perform RF PD measurements. High bandwidth operation at UHF, in conjunction with phase resolved partial discharge (PRPD) pattern display facilities enable the new instrument to discriminate between different types of defect. This is an important benefit as it means, for example, that corona and surface discharges can be readily distinguished from dangerous internal partial discharge events that suggest a need for immediate further investigation. In addition to operation via its integral touchscreen, the instrument can also be operated from an accessory keypad. Menus and settings have been kept to a minimum, and users are guided through the entire measurement process. The instrument is powered by a rechargeable battery that provides an operating time of at least ten hours – more than a working day – when fully charged. As standard, the new Megger UHF Partial Discharge Detector is supplied with a dipole antenna for UHF surveying. Inductive (HFCT) and capacitive (TEV) sensors for making measurements on MV cables and switchgear are available as optional extras. A UHF PD coupling sensor can also be supplied, so the instrument can be used to carry out detailed and precise measurements on HV components such as terminations. As an additional benefit, this sensor is suitable for systems rated at up to 500 kV. uk.megger.com
