Bespoke backup power system for a University


A UK university has turned to a Bristol-based generator company to provide a bespoke backup power solution in case of mains failure. Power Electrics was contacted by a major UK university in the hope that its expertise could provide a bespoke turnkey system which would supply backup power to the institution in the event of a power failure, reports UKPN.

offers a maximum rating of 400.0 kVA / 320.0 kW, 220-415 Volts, providing 1500 RPM, 350.0 kVA / 280.0 kW at 50Hz Prime and 400.0 kVA / 320.0 kW at 50Hz Standby. The

generator is powered by a Perkins® 2206A- E13TAG2 engine and this three-phase diesel generator features a Leroy Somer alternator. This is not the first time Power Electrics


has provided a bespoke system to meet a very specific need. The company is part of the Bloodhound SSC project established to reach 1,000mph, and recently helped power the cameras at the Royal Wedding in Windsor, both of which included specific project requirements.
