iji is an archipelago of more than 330 islands of which 110 are permanently inhabited and more than 500 islets. The main

island is Viti Levu and this is home to four of the best-known marinas, with the fifth and oldest being located on Vanua Levu, the second largest island in the Republic of Fiji – a true Paradise for sailors. Royal Suva Yacht Club based in the main island’s capital was founded around 1930 and while originally located closer to town, the current building in Walu Bay was built around 1940. The club offers a comprehensive range of facilities to boat-owners, including bathrooms with hot water and a next-day laundry service, plus social facilities for its associated members. Overseas sailors can use the facilities for a small fee once registered as a temporary member. There are several mooring

facilities and a trailer park available to accommodate members, visitors and commercially-owned yachts. Trot and plastic pontoon moorings are

generally leased out to members and there are concrete moorings to cater for larger boats or visiting yachts. There is also an area with

hardstanding for boats on trailers and 24-hour security on site. A recipient of the Marina Industries
