OUT THERE
15 August - 15 September Miss Saigon Theatre Royal, Norwich
This summer sees one of the biggest shows ever to grace the stage of Theatre Royal. The global hit, Miss Saigon arrives in the city for a five week run from August 15 to September 15. Set amid the fall of Saigon, it tells the story of an ill-fated love affair between an American GI and a local girl. The show mixes tragedy and passion with some incredible songs, sets and costumes. It boasts a local link as the leading role of American soldier Chris is played by Ashley Gilmour, who lives near Thetford and he is looking forward to performing on home turf for the summer.
There are also highlights for dance fans in the early autumn. Ballet Black, which celebrates dancers of black and Asian descent, will showcase their technique, precision and skill in two specially commissioned pieces on October 25. The Theatre Royal will also host the UK touring premiere of Life Is A Dream on September 27-28. It explores the dreams of very different people living many decades apart in a full-length piece created by Kim Brandstrup, who created Rambert’s award-winning Transfigured.
