“The staff made me feel completely

“I have been blessed; wonderful people have worked together so I can have a few more days here to serve. We all think we’ll live forever – you could be interviewing a new director right now.”

comfortable,” Larry said. “The nurse was telling me, ‘everything is going to be fine’.”

Camp suggested implanting a cardiac

stent, after inserting a balloon catheter into the artery to open it. Two hours after the diagnostic proce-

dure began, Larry ended up with five stents. He was admitted to the hospital, stayed one night to recover and was dis- charged the next day. He returned to work the day after that. As part of the recovery process, Larry

started putting in hours at BRMC’s car- diac rehabilitation program. He started at moderate at 2.5 mph on the rehab treadmill, and now he’s back to running. “I am so grateful and blessed that the

cardiologist was thinking outside of the box and coordinated with the catheter- ization lab,” Larry said of Dr. Camp. “We had the qualified staff and equipment to

take care of all of it here.” “Surprisingly, I’m a living statistic, but I’m here. I am part of this (medical center) environment, you never antici- pate you’ll use the facility,” Larry said. Larry had kept his personal story un-

der wraps until the recent Baxter Re- gional Hospital Foundation’s 2018 Do- nor Banquet, “An Evening of Gratitude,” at the The Sheid. He was the subject of a marketing video that was presented that night, cre- ated by Director of Marketing Tobias Pugsley. The video, loosely based on Larry’s experiences, depicts what hap- pens to a patient suffering a heart at- tack, once 911 is called. “The 400 people who attended the

2018 Donor Banquet hosted by the Bax- ter Regional Hospital Foundation are the difference; without them we wouldn’t have what we have here today,” Larry said, referring to the EMTS, nurses, doc-
